Nominations for the Civic Pride Awards closed on Sunday, 1 February 2026, and the winners have now been announced.

From beautifully maintained gardens to community beautification projects, these awards honour the care, creativity and pride that bring our suburbs to life.

Category Winners

Best Residential Garden - Dolores (Doris) Meilak

Doris is a long-time resident of Greystanes, well known for her exceptional knowledge and gardening expertise. She remains incredibly active and engaged, working tirelessly to maintain her award-winning garden and encouraging local gardeners and enthusiasts alike. During the Christmas period, she is also known for demonstrating her creativity and passion, providing the local community with dazzling garden displays. As the President of the Holroyd Garden Club, Doris also organises monthly bus trips which are keenly attended by members. 

Best Sustainable Garden - Georgette Dib

The garden of Lidcombe local, Georgette, is an enduring testament to her reverence for nature and her unwavering stewardship of the environment. One of her most enduring principles has been her refusal to allow toxic chemicals to be used, always insisting on natural, environmentally responsible methods. As a result, her garden now comprises approximately 90% native plants, complemented by fruit trees, flowers, seasonal herbs, and vegetables. 

Best Street Appeal - Suzanne Mifsud

Suzanne’s residence captures attention the moment one passes by. The architectural design, paired with its landscaping and stretching verandah, evokes a classic charm and a warm, family centred character.
